Everything Blend seasoning
Everything bagel seasoning without the bagel. Sesame, poppy, garlic, onion, and salt in one shake, ready to make almost anything taste like it came from a good deli counter.
What It Is
Everything blend is the seasoning that started on top of bagels and quietly took over the rest of the kitchen. The classic mix combines toasted sesame seeds, poppy seeds, dried garlic, dried onion, and flaky salt. Some versions add caraway or sunflower seeds, but the savory, nutty, slightly sharp character stays the same across variations.
It hit mainstream kitchens in the 2010s but draws on flavors that have been on New York bagels since at least the 1980s. The appeal is simple: multiple layers of flavor, one jar.
What To Do
Press it onto cream cheese, avocado toast, or a soft-boiled egg and you are done. It also works hard on savory foods that need a little crunch and a lot of flavor: rub it onto salmon or chicken before roasting, press it into a pie crust edge before baking, or stir it into butter and spread that on bread.
Start with about half a teaspoon per serving and go up from there. The salt content varies by blend, so taste before you add more. Store in a sealed container away from heat and it will hold its flavor for months.
