Hazelnut Butter With Chocolate Chips
Roasted hazelnut butter swirled with dark chocolate chips. It is basically Nutella's less sugary, more grown-up cousin, and it is very good spread on anything.
What It Is
This is hazelnut butter made from roasted hazelnuts and stirred through with real dark chocolate chips, not cocoa powder or flavoring. Roasting deepens the nut's natural richness before it ever gets ground, so the butter has a toasty, almost coffee-like quality underneath the chocolate.
The dark chocolate chips stay in as small pieces, which means you get occasional pockets of chocolate rather than a fully uniform spread. The result is less sweet than chocolate-hazelnut spreads from the grocery aisle, with more actual nut flavor coming through.
What To Do
Spread it on toast, a warm waffle, or a banana. Stir a spoonful into oatmeal or plain yogurt. Use it as a dip for apple slices or pretzels. It also works folded into brownie batter or spooned over vanilla ice cream.
Because there are no stabilizers, the oil will separate as it sits. Just stir it back together before using. Store it in the fridge after opening to keep it fresh longer, and let it sit out for a few minutes before spreading if it gets too firm to move.
