Mushroom Extract Blend
Four medicinal mushrooms, triple-extracted and blended into a powder you stir into your morning coffee or tea without thinking twice about it.
What It Is
This blend combines turkey tail, reishi, chaga, and lion's mane, four mushrooms with long histories in traditional East Asian and folk medicine, into a single extract. The triple-extraction process uses alcohol and water to pull compounds from the fruiting bodies that neither method alone would fully capture. The 30% alcohol in the finished extract is what makes that possible.
These are not culinary mushrooms. You will not taste them the way you taste a cremini. The flavor is earthy and faintly bitter, mild enough to disappear into a strong drink. Traditionally, people took blends like this daily over long periods, treating them more like a tonic than a seasoning.
What To Do
Start with a small amount, about a quarter teaspoon, stirred into hot coffee, tea, or warm milk of your choice. It dissolves easily and the bitterness blends well with anything that already has a little roast or tannin to it. Some people add it to a morning smoothie instead.
Because this is an extract rather than a whole powder, a little goes a long way. Store it in a cool, dry place away from light, and use a dry spoon each time to keep moisture out. It keeps well for months when stored that way.
