Redmond Real Salt

Redmond Real Salt

Mined from an ancient seabed in Utah, Redmond Real Salt is unrefined and flecked with natural minerals that give it a faintly earthy, never harsh flavor.

What It Is

Most table salt is stripped down to nearly pure sodium chloride, then processed with anti-caking agents. Redmond skips all of that. It comes out of the ground in central Utah already pink-grey and speckled, carrying trace minerals left behind when a prehistoric ocean dried up roughly 150 million years ago. Nothing is added, nothing is bleached.

The flavor is noticeably rounder than standard iodized salt. It won't overpower food, which is exactly why cooks who try it tend to stick with it.

What To Do

Use it anywhere you'd reach for salt: seasoning pasta water, finishing a fried egg, brining a chicken, or stirring into a pot of soup. It dissolves cleanly and measures the same as regular table salt, so no recipe math required. The fine grind works for everyday cooking; if you want visible crystals on top of a dish, look for the coarse version.

Store it in a sealed container away from steam. Salt doesn't spoil, but it can clump if moisture gets to it.
