Steak Grilling Seasoning
A ready-mixed rub built for the grill. Shake it on, let the heat do the work, and skip the measuring.
What It Is
Steak seasoning is a savory blend of salt, pepper, garlic, onion, and a handful of other spices calibrated to stand up to high heat and a searing hot grate. The salt draws out just enough moisture to help form a crust, while the pepper and garlic round out the char with something deeper than plain salted meat.
It is not just for steak. The same mix works well on pork chops, chicken thighs, roasted potatoes, or any cut that benefits from a bold, savory crust. It is the kind of blend that earns a permanent spot near the grill.
What To Do
For a standard steak, coat both sides generously and let the meat sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes before cooking. More salt contact time means better crust. For thinner cuts or chicken, a lighter hand is fine. Pat the surface dry before seasoning if it came straight from the fridge, so the rub sticks.
Beyond the grill, stir a teaspoon into ground beef for burgers or mix it with a little oil to coat vegetables before roasting at high heat. Store in a sealed container away from the stove to keep the aromatics sharp.
