Strawberry Green Tea
Green tea and real strawberries in the same cup, softened with hibiscus so the fruit reads bright and the caffeine stays low.
What It Is
This is a blended loose-leaf tea built on a green tea base, with dried strawberries, hibiscus, and a touch of natural strawberry flavor rounding it out. The hibiscus adds a gentle tartness and a rosy color; the green tea keeps things light rather than heavy or tannic.
Because the caffeine is low, it works later in the day when you still want something warm but not a second wind. It also brews beautifully cold, which makes it a good candidate for a pitcher in the fridge.
What To Do
Use about one heaping teaspoon per eight-ounce cup. Steep in water that is hot but just off the boil, around 175 to 185 degrees, for three to four minutes. Green tea turns bitter if the water is too hot or the steep runs long, so pull it when it smells good.
For iced tea, brew it double strength with twice the leaves, then pour straight over ice. It needs no sweetener, but a little honey is nice if you want it softer. Store the loose leaves in a sealed container away from light and heat.
